Summary:

A group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own.

Review:

Fans of the Running Zombie will be disappointed with this movie as Romero has taken us back to basics.......Slow, lumbering Zombies that gradually build into a frenzied state of blood lust......the way it should be! So for me this movie was a blast from the past and better than most of the new Zombie flicks such as 28 Weeks Later or even Romero's own land of the Dead.

The special effects are good, there is some humour and most importantly some pretty cool Gore.

The story as with most horror movies is fairly simplistic (did you really expect Hitchcock from a Zombie flick!), however that being said Diary of the Dead is different from most other Zombie movies in that it has clearly moved away from the well trodden path of survivors holed up in a secured building for 90 minutes.

Overall this is a solid entry in the Zombie genre but what possibly restricts this movie to being good instead of great is that Romero has told this story many times before.......Lets face it, in spite of the new approach we've all heard/seen the radio broadcasts, background TV reports etc of how society is falling prey to the Zombie plague in the previous Dead movies.
